Located just 20 minutes away from the Airport and Iguazu National Park, this spectacular lodge occupies a 25-acre plot nestled in the Atlantic rainforest. Awasi consists of a main lodge and 14 private guest villas set atop stilts and scattered through the jungle, judiciously spaced for privacy. There are 13 regular villas and one master villa with two rooms for families or friends travelling together.
Your guides are passionate about sharing Awasi with you – you’re in excellent hands – on par with the finest guides in southern Africa.
It’s hard to drag yourself away from Awasi’s private villas, with their generous living space decorated with materials that reflect the landscape around the lodge — wood, traditional textiles and baskets woven by the Guarani people. Each lodge comes with its own outdoor monsoon shower, plunge pool and the services of your own private guide and access to a 4WD vehicle. One lovely thing to do is simply close one’s eyes and listen to the surroundings – either as toucans and other birds call in nearby trees, or as rain thunders down overhead. Large windows have superb views of the jungle.
Dining is hugely impressive, and the menu spotlights locally sourced treats plucked straight from the jungle and expertly prepared. You can either dine in the spacious restaurant or under the forest canopy on the veranda. The empanadas are especially tasty, and breakfast filling and plentiful.
Children over the age of 10 are welcome and this would be a very special place to bring adventurous teens, especially.
In addition to Iguazu Falls, you can also explore nearby ruins and trails through the rainforest. One downside – it’s worth noting that many of Awasi’s activities require a one to three-hour drive to reach.
“My wife and I wanted to travel through Chile, Bolivia and Peru and were slightly daunted by the logistics of organising such a varied trip.John Resse, USA
Chris was incredibly helpful not only mapping out the most exciting and engaging trip, but also using his extensive personal knowledge of the best things to do. They were reassuringly efficient in organising the trip, monitoring how we were doing during the trip and making adjustments to improve the trip.Tracy Williams, UK
Chris’s passion and enthusiasm encouraged us to do things we wouldn't have thought to do, which gave us fantastic memories of the trip of a lifetime.”Tony Thomas, USA
