Kvíar Lodge – Westfjords – Iceland

Kvíar Lodge is an old farmhouse in the Hornstrandir nature reserve. When people abandoned the area in 1948 with their livestock, arctic foxes became the only remaining land mammals.
Kvíar is the only house for many miles, reachable only by boat.

The beautiful abandoned farm of Kvíar is a cozy but rugged haven for adventurers to enjoy a great atmosphere after a fulfilling day out.  Life is simple in Kvíar and you’ll be taken back in time as you enjoy how people lived in the area more than sixty years ago.

Kvíar is a great getaway and the perfect base for spotting arctic foxes, kayaking and hiking in summer and skiing in winter.

This is your base from where to experience your transformational encounter and track arctic foxes.

What our clients say about us

Incredible Experience

“My wife and I wanted to travel through Chile, Bolivia and Peru and were slightly daunted by the logistics of organising such a varied trip.

John Resse, USA

Best Trip Organiser

Chris was incredibly helpful not only mapping out the most exciting and engaging trip, but also using his extensive personal knowledge of the best things to do. They were reassuringly efficient in organising the trip, monitoring how we were doing during the trip and making adjustments to improve the trip.

Tracy Williams, UK

Fantastic Memories

Chris’s passion and enthusiasm encouraged us to do things we wouldn't have thought to do, which gave us fantastic memories of the trip of a lifetime.”
