Board your plane to King George Island (the gateway to Antarctica). You will be welcomed by our Antarctic- expert tour guides who will take you on a tour visiting different areas of the island like Villa Las Estrellas (first settlement inhabited by civilians), Orthodox Russian Church (At Bellingshausen Station), navigation on a zodiac boat to Ardley Island to visit some penguin colonies (Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie) and navigation around Collins glacier.
At the end of the day you are taken to the Ice Camp on Collins glacier, located about 5 kms (3 miles) from the runway, where you will stay overnight.
This ice camp includes a thermic tent (module) as a dining room for the whole group, one special tent as a basic expedition toilette and three different small thermic and special tents (small modules) for two people.
In the morning walk to the “Elefanteras” (sea elephant colony) located in the Drake Passage Area and visit the Chinese station “Great Wall”. It is also possible to visit other attractions, depending on the weather conditions, before returning to Punta Arenas.
“My wife and I wanted to travel through Chile, Bolivia and Peru and were slightly daunted by the logistics of organising such a varied trip.
John Resse, USAChris was incredibly helpful not only mapping out the most exciting and engaging trip, but also using his extensive personal knowledge of the best things to do. They were reassuringly efficient in organising the trip, monitoring how we were doing during the trip and making adjustments to improve the trip.
Tracy Williams, UKChris’s passion and enthusiasm encouraged us to do things we wouldn't have thought to do, which gave us fantastic memories of the trip of a lifetime.”
