Indonesia is one of the world’s finest places for diving. Raja Ampat is our favorite location, where there are colourful soft corals, huge gorgonian sea fans, and sea squirts and tunicates in a multitude of sizes and shapes. Muricella and Annella sea fans often reveals the elusive Bargibanti and Denise pygmy seahorses. The stunning Mandarin Fish make their appearance just before sunset.
Nudibranchs and flatworms can be found in abundance. Reef walls are home to an unrivalled variety of soft corals, hard corals, and sponges, in all colours of the spectrum. Even fluorescent hard corals!
There are over 25 world-class dive sites in Raja Ampat, including Fiabacet, Boo, Yilliet, Wobbegong City, and Magic Mountain.
You can dive a busy manta cleaning station, coral covered walls, reef flats, swim throughs, gentle sea mounts, drift dives, vast hard-coral gardens, placid lagoons, and current-raked pinnacles. Visibility is variable but generally 75 ft + (25+) meters, with temperatures around 26-28 degrees Celsius (78-82 degrees Fahrenheit).
Larger pelagics like Barracuda, Big Eyed Travelly, and the odd mature Grey Reef Shark and be seen, as well as Manta Rays, White Tip Reef Sharks, Napoleon Wrasse, Barramundi cod, Hawksbill Turtles, barracuda, Wobbegong Shark, gangs of plate-sized Batfish, huge Barrel Sponges, and Hairy Squat Lobsters.
You will be amazed.
“My wife and I wanted to travel through Chile, Bolivia and Peru and were slightly daunted by the logistics of organising such a varied trip.John Resse, USA
Chris was incredibly helpful not only mapping out the most exciting and engaging trip, but also using his extensive personal knowledge of the best things to do. They were reassuringly efficient in organising the trip, monitoring how we were doing during the trip and making adjustments to improve the trip.Tracy Williams, UK
Chris’s passion and enthusiasm encouraged us to do things we wouldn't have thought to do, which gave us fantastic memories of the trip of a lifetime.”Tony Thomas, USA
