A Suggested Itinerary for Argentina

This 9-day rewilding journey includes horseback riding, kayaking, wildlife walks, and cultural encounters with local families, a river conservation expedition to the guanaco reintroduction program, before flying to the Iberá Wetlands for four more days of wetland safaris, boat excursions, horseback riding, and camera-trap monitoring led by researchers.

Visit the ocelot and giant otter reintroduction programs and a final trip to San Alonso Island’s Jaguar Reintroduction Center. Leave with an intimate, expert-led look at large-scale ecosystem restoration, alongside close encounters with jaguars, giant otters, guanacos, caimans, and hundreds of bird species.

    EXPLORE EL IMPENETRABLE Horseback ride in the morning. Kayak along the Bermejo River, followed by a guided walk through the rainforest for birdwatching and wildlife observation. (B,L,D)

    BIODIVERSITY Learn about the remarkable biodiversity of El Impenetrable while searching for native wildlife with your expert guide. Before dinner, review wildlife camera trap footage. (B,L,D)

    BERMEJO RIVER CONSERVATION BOAT EXPEDITION Explore one of South America’s last great wilderness rivers while learning about the conservation and monitoring efforts carried out to reduce threats such as poaching, safeguard wildlife, and protect this extraordinary ecosystem.   5. Day 5

    FLY TO IBERA Safari along the wetlands’ palm-lined coast to contemplate the sunset, where several species can be observed, mainly mammals and birds framed in a perfect combination of palm groves, espinal forests and grasslands. Night safari after dinner. (B,L,D)

  6. Day 6

    EXPLORE RINCON DEL SOCORRO Safari by vehicle or ebike, then meet the Mayor of Colonia and discover how Iberá has evolved from one of Argentina’s most remote and economically challenged regions into a world-renowned conservation and ecotourism destination. Then embark on a boat excursion across the Iberá Lagoon, quietly approaching caimans, marsh deer, capybaras, and hundreds of bird species without disturbing their natural behavior. (B,L,D)

  7. Day 7

    HORSE RIDING AND OCELOT CONSERVATION Horse ride through grasslands, espinal forests and swamps in search of wildlife. Gain insight into the Ocelot species reintroduction program. Observe field teams as they install and check camera traps used to monitor wildlife populations and evaluate ecosystem recovery. (B,L,D)

  8. Day 8

    JAGUARS AND GIANT OTTERS Fly to San Alonso Island, home to the Jaguar Reintroduction Center, the first breeding center created specifically to return this iconic species to the wild. Meet the ecosystem restoration team and visit the facilities where jaguars are prepared for life in the wild, gaining firsthand insight into one of the world’s leading rewilding initiatives. In the afternoon visit the giant otter pre-release enclosures, and after sunset, the adventure continues with a guided nocturnal safari on foot. (B,L,D)
