The story

Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park offers a world of deserted islands, wild bushlands, secluded beaches and other Tasmanian attractions to explore.

Discover the internationally acclaimed Wineglass Bay on a picturesque boat journey aboard Saffire. Let your guide and skipper take you back in time as you discover the history of Freycinet Peninsula while taking in the breathtaking scenery and wildlife that surrounds you. Enjoy a leisurely cruise back into Great Oyster Bay whilst passing pristine white sandy beaches that are dotted around the Freycinet coastline.

Enjoy close-up interactions with soaring sea birds, playful marine mammals and a diversity of life on your way to Schouten Island aboard our purpose-built vessel, Saffire. The adventure also includes a visit to culturally significant sites of past and present inhabitants, including the Australian fur seal. Morning tea is included and prepared by the team of chefs at Saffire.

Explore iconic Wineglass Bay on a guided 3 mile (5km) walk, taking you to the crystal white sands and azure waters of South Hazards beach. Loaded with history and untouched beauty, you’ll then be greeted by your guide who will indulge you with a gourmet picnic of locally sourced produce, served with a distinctly French flavour.

Enjoy charcuterie, local oysters, barbequed seafood and free range meats, farmhouse cheese and petit desserts before being ‘chauffeured’ back aboard our Saffire vessel via the peninsula’s spectacular fiery red coastline.

One of Tasmania’s great wilderness properties, Currawong Lakes, provides its guests with a premium dry fly fishing experience. The property boasts exceptional hatches of aquatic and terrestrial insect life. Dry fly fishing is available on most days at a location on one of three lakes, whatever the wind direction or weather conditions. Of particular note are the hatches of Red Spinners which start regularly in late October and continue on until the end of the Tasmanian trout season in late March. While this particular spot is known by keen anglers worldwide, this is a unique opportunity to learn how to fly fish in a fun and safe environment. Personal

Helicopter experiences can be tailored to each guest and can range from fly-fishing to playing a round of golf at the internationally renowned Barnbougle Dunes or Lost Farm golf courses.

Fly over World Heritage rainforest and rugged coastline before landing at Bathurst Harbour. After enjoying a short stroll and boat ride around the harbour, the plane sets off past Tasmania’s fabled Federation Peak to Meadowbank Vineyard. Lunch is hosted at the winery by the Ellis family, as wine and stories of the property flow freely. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon before the short flight along the Derwent Valley towards home.
