El Puesto has added elements of energy efficiency to the design, using solar thermal panels for heating and water heating, LED technology for lighting, and modern water-saving bathroom fittings. They use products with minimal chemicals, compost and are responsibly treat waste.
They have received Alojamiento Sustentable BIOSPHERE (sustainable BIOSPHERE accommodation) certification.
